“Thanks...for all the help in applying for and helping me gain access to this great loan program. This helped me get through the tough times after the fire, and allow me to purchase new inventory for my shop.”
Lori Lumbattis of "The Frugal Dame" has been running her retail upper-end dress rental shop for several years. It began with the idea to provide upper-end attire for an affordable rate; where one could spend less money on a dress or tuxedo that is only worn once or twice. With options for men and women of all ages Lombatis says: "The goal is for you to look fabulous." She had just started her business in 2013 and was well on her way but realized she needed help if she was going to succeed.
After opening her store she was needing help with expanding her client base. She reached out to the Shasta-Cascade SBDC in 2013 for marketing assistance and help with straightening out her QuickBooks. The SBDC helped her get her marketing strategy and QuickBooks in place and was there to assist her ever since then whenever anything came up.
But the real test of her business came after the Carr fire and other sequential fires that effected the North State. Her business wasn't physically damaged but her bank account was feeling the pressure. No one was going out much less going to fancy parties. Even weddings stopped in the area. With a loss of her summer income, Lumbattis was unsure if she would be able to stay open. She came in to meet with the SBDC's loan specialist Joe Rodola in October 2018 to see if there were any options for her. Joe told her about the SBA (Small Business Administration) Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) and how she could apply for assistance for loss of income. Rodola walked her through the requirements and what she needed to do to apply. Lumbattis immediately applied for the loan and was approved on 11/28/18 for the amount she needed with amazing terms. A $6,600 loan, at a 3.610% fixed rate for 14 years and no payment required for the first 12 months. That leaves her monthly payment at just $50 a month. Needless to say, she is thrilled to see her business saved and is very happy about the whole process. Sounds like a good reason to celebrate with a fabulous outfit from "The Frugal Dame".
