Urban Retreat Day Spa
“The SBDC has devoted time to our company by offering guidance in financial management, professional analysis of our goals and an overwhelming amount of assistance in reconstructing our business plan.
We not only feel more confident as business owners, but as representatives in our community because of SBDC”
With the help and advice of the SBDC, Urban Retreat was able to triple their sales and add new employees to their full service day spa.
Challenge
Amanda and Connie had purchased the business fairly recently when they came to the SBDC. Things were moving along, but they realized that their cash flow could use some improvement and that there were more clientele that they were not reaching with their current marketing tactics.
Gameplan
They met with the SBDC for financial and marketing advice. With the help of SBDC advisor, Joe Rodola, they reviewed their company’s financial history and put together a financial plan to present to a local lender, in the hopes of maximizing their cash flow. Along with this and applying what they learned from attending SBDC’s business workshops, they also met with SBDC marketing specialist Lani Lott to fine-tune their marketing strategy. Needless to say, with plans in place they were able to clearly see where they were heading and take affirmative action to reach their goals.
Result
As a result of their work with the SBDC, in the first year Connie and Amanda tripled their sales and hired several additional employees. They have become a well-known staple in Shasta County.
